Thank you for posting your question on Just Answer! I will be happy to help you with this problem. Can you please give us some more information so I can better answer your questions.

-What is the model number for the television? (this can be found on the back of the unit)

-How old is the unit?

- Do you have this problem on all inputs? (dvd, cable, satellite, ect.)

-If you press the menu button on the tv while it is on does the menu show up?

Please give me this information and I will be happy to assist you further.

Thank you,

Tim

50HM66 is the model number.

The unit is roughly 20 months old.

I do have this problem on both the cable input and on the input I use for the Xbox. I've moved the HDMI cable to all other HDMI slots, none of them work. I've also moved the Xbox to the other component input, same result.

The menu on the TV does show up when I press the menu button. I get audio just fine, but absolutely nothing shows up for video (except the TV menu button).

You should also note that I have check the back of the TV and there does still seem to be bright light coming out of a vent. This leads me to believe that the bulb is still funcitonal.

Response From Expert

Are you using anything other than HDMI or any components?

If not please hook something up a different way to see if any of the other inputs other than HDMI work.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks,

Tim

All of the HDMI inputs had the same result, as did all the component inputs. I've also used just the regular composite (red white yellow)input for the xbox with the same result.

Accepted Answer

First let me say I am sorry I don't have a quick or easy fix for this problem.

This set will require a replacement of the digital board, according to the manual this is the only board common to all inputs for video processing. It is also the board with the HDMI plugs on it.

You can expect anywhere from $500-$700 to have a good tv shop come out and repair this for you.

If you have more questions or would like additional information please let me know!

If I have answered your questions and met your needs then please press the green "accept" button. Otherwise please feel free to ask anything else to get your problem resolved.

Thank you,
Tim
