I have Phillips Model 20PF5120/28. Bought in the summer of 2007. Has been working fine. Just in the last week I can not get the tv to come until till after 12 noon, it will work all afternoon and into the evening, last night I left it on and it shut off sometime during the night. I and completely lost. I did a lot of work on TV's and have a degree in electronics. All TV's on the same splitter work, I even set the timer to shut off and it did, the TV came back on back on. Now the it will not come on. will try after noon today again. Help

Does the TV sit in a room that cools down during the night, and then warms up during the day - perhaps on the south side of the house? Is it located near a window? I have a suspicion that you may have a cold solder joint, and once it warms up, it makes contact and then works.

Relist: I still need help.
Rod: you have a good theory, but why does it keep running and then shut off after 12 hrs on. I will try to spray the chasis with some frezze spray, see if it shuts down. I am watching it now and see if it shuts off at 12tonite will get back to yuou. Merlin

This unit has an external power supply according to the technical information I have. This is a switching power supply, and most problems, when a TV goes completely off, are in the power supply. The next time it goes off, check the external power supply. According to the information I have it should be putting out 16vdc.
