What is the model number of the tv? Sony sxrd 60xbr1

-what are the symptoms you are having with the tv? I had Sony service tech diagnos the problem as intermitten fan failure, TV goes to stand by and red light blinks.

-What are your technical abilites?
Very well

-Do you have any test equipment available?
no

Does the light blink 4 times pause and 4 more times? If so then yes you have a bad fan.

There are 4 fans in this set and any one of them can be causing the problem. If you take the back off and try to turn it on and see a fan not spinning then that is the one that needs to be changed, vary simple process involving 4 screws and 1 connector. If both the fans that you see are spinning then its a fan that is more difficult to change and you will need to be able to use a meter to determine what fan is bad.
