Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy), hope you are doing well,
Communication technology is a term with such a wide description that it's very difficult to narrow a definition for the duties of a communication tech. Communication technology (or technologies) together with information technology is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, mainly: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning.
Let me describe a few of the duties a comm-tech may have:
- Fiber-optic cable installation and maintanance
- Maintenance and repair of two-way radio transmitting and receiving equipment,
- Maintenance and repair of computer peripherals and related data transmission media,
- maintenance and repair of miscellaneous electronic equipment and instruments (e.g. close circuit TV systems),
- Programming and operating automatic test equipment to aid in the troubleshooting of electronic equipment,
- Install, maintain and repair equipment that provides Voice Data, ISDN Circuits, XDSL, Video, VoIP and Data Networking,
That list can go on almost indefinitely, as its context depends on the specific needs of the employer, and SBC and ATT are involved in any kind of communication that you can possibly think of.
Hope this helps but if you have questions let me know.
