ok, who re built the trans and how long ago???

the fact that it has reverse tells me the pump is working.

even if the bands were out of adjustment, it would still engage in gear.

it is an application error, possibly due to a valve body issue.

I rebuilt, but didn't mess with anything in the valve body just seals gaskets clutch rings. was looking for issue that ended up being bearings in overdrive unit. I replaced a small filter, maybe checked a few areas on or around but didn't dig into valve body too much. toolmaker by trade If I knew what to look for I can fix. just no good with troubleshooting. it worked well before messed with it..LOL I hope this is an issue I can fix without pulling it back outagain

I pulled it out of the garage, id have to pull it back in and drop the pan again but that's no problem
Expert:  Roy replied 6 months ago.

did you air check the clutch packs after assembly before installing the valve body???

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
no I didn't, I really don't know what I'm checking for to aircheck.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
checking out videos, I never removed the valve body from the transmission
Expert:  Roy replied 6 months ago.

what videos??

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I'm sorry, I googled air check valve body on a 42re transmission and saw how they where air checking. Looked as if I may need to pull transmission again and start over ?
