Have Transmission Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello and welcome. My name is ***** ***** you for visiting the site, I am reviewing your question and will reply shortly, thanks.
Does the linkage move at the trans?
I see, thanks. Any line pressure at all?
The pressure would have to be tested at the test ports on the side of the trans. Line pressure is tested at the accumulator port. Please see attached diagram, thanks
Did you expect something different?
It would probably need a rebuild then. I will opt out and open it back up. Please DON’T REPLY to this post as that will lock the question back to me, someone should be along shortly, I’m sure, thanks and sorry I wasn’t able to help with it.
Does it make any noise when you put it into gear? Was the fluid level over full when you checked it?
Did you check it in park or neutral?
Set the park brake and check it with the transmission in neutral please and see if the fluid level is low? The pump does not kick in with the transmission in park.
Was it at the same level as it was with the trans. in park?
Then the pump is not working. If the pump was working the fluid level should have dropped at least 2-3 quarts. I hate to say it put more than likely the pump gears have broken or stripped out around the converter. The unit will have to come out to do the needed repairs. Do you want to repair this yourself? I can walk you through doing it as well as help you get the parts you will need at a good price and save you a ton of money?
No. The trans will have to come out and be torn down. If I am right and you do the work it will cost you around $ 500. but a shop will charge you around $2000.00.
