I have a 2005 suburban 1500 that seems that the tranny makes

I have a 2005 suburban 1500 that seems that the tranny makes a really loud noise going into second gear lie is trying to go in and is not then goes in but is really loud like 2 pieces of metal trying to get together also in reverse is there a gear that works on both second gear and reverse . I change the transfer case because I thoug went away when in 4wd. but I was mistaken any ideas

Did you check your u joints to see if they had any play in them, or if they where stiff?

I check them no play and free it feels like is inside the transfer case but why you feel it in second gear mostly.

Can you tell me at what speeds the transmission shifts into all 4 gears?
