2005 ram 3500 4wd dually automatic. Shift cable broke while

Customer Question

2005 ram 3500 4wd dually automatic. Shift cable broke while adjusting, hunts second pretty bad have to let off throttle to get in. Lights on indicator after new range selector was put in comes on in park and 1st thats it...
JA: Do you have the trouble code? Do you have a code reader or scan tool?
Customer: Recently it started also after about three hours on interstate it seems like it has a governor on it. Loses power falls on face if any fuel is given .. back off throttle it'll go but not fast. When it does this stop at a vvg stop sighn it dies quickly, after it sits for few minutes it will start up
JA: I'll pass this info along to the Dodge Mechanic so that he can get you a quick fix. Are you fixing your Ram yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes i am fixing myself. Range selector. is all. Now cable i have to replace .. got the fluid and gasket, filter to change tranny fluid and adjust bands
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I have bulldog tuner on it to read codes

ok

the problem with the transmission seems to be the governor pressure solenoid..

replace both the governor solenoid and the governor sensor at the same time..

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Ok. I was thinking of that but for sure now
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

these are known to go bad a do this

Customer: replied 8 months ago.

Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 8 months ago.

GOVERNOR BODY, SENSOR AND SOLENOID 1. Turn valve body assembly over so accumulator side of transfer plate is facing down. 2. Install new O-rings on governor pressure solenoid and sensor. 3. Lubricate solenoid and sensor O-rings with clean transmission fluid. 4. Install governor pressure sensor in governor body. 5. Install governor pressure solenoid in governor body. Push solenoid in until it snaps into place in body. 6. Position governor body gasket on transfer plate. 7. Install retainer plate on governor body and around solenoid. Be sure solenoid connector is positioned in retainer cutout. 8. Align screw holes in governor body and transfer plate. Then install and tighten governor body screws to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.) torque. 9. Connect harness wires to governor pressure solenoid and governor pressure sensor. 10. Install fluid filter and pan. 11. Lower vehicle. 12. Fill transmission with recommended fluid and road test vehicle to verify repair
