Installing manual transmission: I used the transmission

Customer Question

Installing manual transmission:
I used the transmission shaft as a guide when I installed the clutch plate and pressure plate. Is there a secret to inserting?
Also, should I grease the tip of the shaft?

I used the transmission shafts instead. I could not find an alignment tool.

rock the tranny a little bit it should slide in

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I measured distance from bell housing to end of hole in flywheel. It'seems the same as distance of shafts to front of transmission plate.

was this a tranny swap or a simple clutch change?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I had the engine rebuilt. Transmission fit before. Did not change anything. Same block, same crank.

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose) I prefer to work when others don't, I am here around lunch and after dinner till after midnight.

Would you like me to help?

I often use longer bellhousing bolts and place the trans into gear then wiggle the trans into position and turn the output shaft to get everything seated and locked in to get the bellhousing to mate up flush to the engine.
