JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: trans temp overheat
JA: What is the model/year of your transmissions?
Customer: jeep cherokee 2006
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: It seems to be sensor, fluid doesn't seem hot and engine isn't running hot but outside airtemp is unusually high
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose) I prefer to work when others don't, I am here around lunch and after dinner till after midnight.

If you are not towing or driving aggressive which could indicate the need for a larger cooler. Then its more likely to just be a faulty temp sensor. If you have a diagnostic tool we could monitor the temp to see if it spiking up and down or if it is in fact gradually getting to high from a possible slippage concern.
