JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch?
Customer: The shifter is stuck in neutral or park and will not go into gear
JA: What is the model/year of your Toyota?
Customer: 2004 Siana XLe
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The shifter will move when you put your foot on the break and go to the gear selections but nothing happens
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: No matter where you put the shifter the neutral indicator light on the dash stays in neutral and the vehicle seems to stay in neutral any ideas

When you shift the shifter, do you fell any kind of clicking as if the transmission is going into gear or does the shifter move freely?

Shifter moves freely as long as you put your foot on the break it'll come out of park and move up and down Fraley the indicator light on the dash never moves from neutral
