Working on a 04 cts with 3.6 engine. I replaced the 4-5

Customer Question

Working on a 04 cts with 3.6 engine. I replaced the 4-5 shift solenoid and transmission and filter. Im following alldata and prodemand guide on filling. Im having trouble putting more fluid in the transmission after the forth quart. I shifted through the gears and let idle while filling. Any ideas?

what is the vehicles vin number

have you checked the fluid level at plug 36. this is where you check the fill level. first you have to run the vehicle through the gears 5-10 secs each. then you can check the fluid level. you must have the vehicle running in the park position on a level surface to check.

trying to get you a diagram on here so that you can see the location of the plug that is used to check the fluid level

there goes the diagram

don't want to over fill the transmission. could cause overflow at the vent on the top of the transmission if it has one.

This is the vin and we did check the proper plug 36 but would only take 4 quarts. Now it will shift into fifth for a few seconds and then itll kick it out 1G6DM577740180463

Are there any codes set in the PCM? If so what are they?
