Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

It sounds like you may have a couple different issues going on. It sounds as if there is a shift cable issue along with the trans staying in limp in.

What year vehicle did the transmission come from?

Are you able to shift the transmission through all gears by hand?

How are you adjusting the cable?
