The clutch in my 1981 targa requires a very hard push

Customer Question

The clutch in my 1981 targa requires a very hard push against the clutch pedal...is there something I can do or have done so that it is not as uncomfortable to engage the clutch?

Hi, I am going to give you some help. 1st of all, do you know if the clutch is adjusted properly? It must be done with feeler gauges if the pedal is to be correct.

2nd, was the clutch feel OK and then out of the blue the pedal became very hard?

I just reread your description and I think the assist spring on the actual pedal needs to be examined to see if it has broken

is that done at a dealer?
Expert:  porscheguru replied 9 months ago.

The dealer can do it but if you have a good mechanic you trust, then that person could do it also.
