95 lexus sc300 wont shift to overdrive,the o/d switch works,no cel on. Bad ecu? Solenoid? Thanks

What is the rpm when traveling at 60mph ..
Where is the temp gauge low ,middle or just above the middle .

RPM at 60 are about 3300,temperature is slightly below middle. Also the car stalled on me in the morning right after i pulled out from driveway,had to start it again then was ok. tranny shift smoothly up or down no lights on dash.everything else works. i tried pull out some codes didnt get nothing but but CEL light and O/D light were flashing during procedure. thanks Jan

Just to get this clear after the car stalled you restarted the engine and now the O/D is working .

no is not. i meant the car drove fine but still wont go into o/d

What scan tool are you using .

no tool.just using paper clip at diagnostic port terminal TE1 and EI in engine bay and CEL light on dash which doesnt SHOW any codes. its flashing constantly together with o/d light

Most common issue is the PNP switch (gear selector switch on the side of the transmission .

where is the solenoid connector i suppose to disconnect? there are 2 connectors on the rear of tranny but i think those are speed sensors.

Yes the two at the rear are the speed input and output sensors

i thought #1 says "disconnect electrical connector for solenoid from rear of the transmission"....im a little confused..

Just come to mind Disconnect the PNP switch wiring harness and test drive .
Did you check the kick down cable make sure this is correctly adjusted .

my engine looks different then the one on the picture. also not able to locate the neutral safety switch on the left side front of the transmission. my car is 1995 sc300

Picture is slightly different than yours but adjustment is the same .
On the left side front of transmission as shown in the diagrams ,
The transmission gear control cable will got to the PNP and on this part is a fat plug, pull this to disconnect.

is it accessible and visible from under the car? i just dont see anything there. i replaced a few neutral safety switch on different cars i just dont see anything like it on this one.

i found it. its on the right side,not on the left side.

Okay now you need to visit a transmission shop, as this now could be an internal issue. Further testing will have to be done with line pressure testing ,this is now a transmission shop issue b.
