Customer Question

I own a 2010 subaru outback with a manual transmission. Starting today, the transmission started making a squealing sound when the clutch is depressed and the stick is in gear. What could be the cause?

Hi there,
Your squeal is MOST likely to be the clutch release bearing.
But to be sure, you should also check crankshaft endfloat in case of main bearing thrust wear.
I have seen what appears to be a clutch noise ending up being main thrust bearing worn out.
Hope this helps.
