Transmissions: Ford E40D 1990 model Im putting the valve

I'm putting the valve body back together. Which way does the epc checkball spring go?
Does the filter part go down (looking from it sitting on the bench with the tranny upside down)
Does the filter go into the body and the steel ball on the spring or the other way around?

Hello, I'm Chris. Welcome and thanks for asking your question!

The spring sets against the trans case and the ball sits against the separator plate gasket.

If your asking about the solenoid filter, with the separator plate mounted then the filter is installed pushed into the plate towards the case.

so the ball sits in the filter part of the spring then correct?

I am not showing a screen/filter associated with the EPC steel ball and spring.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

The spring sits in the little filter thing.
