Hi, I am John Mc, a Ford dealer tech.I hope I can help you quickly and accurately.
This is a very common issue with these transmissions. It is usually caused by the solenoid pack in the transmission. There is bad news that goes with this. A lot of the time the solenoid pack causes damage and can break the bands and/or cause damage to the servo pistons that control the bands. If this is the case then a complete overhaul will need to be performed on the transmission including some machine work to the transmission case so this failure does not repeat. Sorry for the bad news but I have repaired many of these and have seen this problem many times.
In advance, Thanks for giving a positive rating! Ratings are how I receive credit for helping you today.
If you need further assistance for this problem before or after rating feel free to ask a follow up and I'll be glad to help.
Thanks,John Mc
If you need me and it says I am not in chat it is ok. I get a message as soon as you respond so I can come right back.
What I need to do now ?
Your first thing to do would be to remove the pan and replace the solenoid pack. If you still have problems after replacing you will need to have the trans removed and repaired. The solenoid pack is the cause, so that would need replaced anyway so in now way would you be wasting money.
