Ford Expedition 4x4: 97 expedition wont shift into 3 or4 gear.Runs

97 expedition wont shift into 3 or4 gear.Runs great in1 &2 been driving it as long as i dont go over50 i was told.Mechanic put scanner onit said it shifted into 3 & 4 gear but he said it didnt .Bad tranny 1500.00 to 2000.00 for rebuilt.

Hello, I'm Chris.

 

When you use drive does it make an attempt to shift to 3rd, if so does it go to neutral?

 

While driving is the OD light flashing indicating a trouble code?

 

When using Manual 1st gear do you only get 1st gear?

 

Look inside your drivers door jam, there is a label there. In the bottom right its says TR, I need the single letter or number there under TR to see which trans you have?

Chris are 97 expedition started shifting like nothing was ever wrong with it .We put new tranny fluid in it.The person who we bought it from must not of change it ever.Thank you.
