Is road construction and road demolision considered

Customer Question

Is road construction and road demolision considered intrastate?
I am hoping to get a CDL in Illinois but I am told I need to get a medical card, I am a diabetic and it can be a long process to get all the needed paperwork to get a medical exemption.
Someone mentioned to me that if my idea is to do road construction I could just get an intrastate CDL
Is this true?

Is road construction and road demolision considered intrastate?

Response 1: Generally, yes, assuming that all driving relating to the project is not going to cross state lines.

Someone mentioned to me that if my idea is to do road construction I could just get an intrastate CDL

Is this true?

Response 2: This not quite true. If you have to cross state lines because of the project, you would need an interstate CDL.
