Customer Question

I received a reasonable and prudent speed violation. It is listed as a 28-701A violation. I did not think it was a big deal. This was my first speeding ticket so decided to just pay the fine. Now it's showing up on my driving record and I found that it's a class 3 misdemeanor. Is this a criminal charge and will it appear on my criminal record?
