Hello my name is Alex and I will be glad to answer your question.
Are you online with me?
I would categorize his attitude as "you win some you lose some", which I especially didn't appreciate because the part I forgot to add in my original question, is that I received a 20 day license suspension, effective immediately, so I had to drive home from court with a suspended license which could have really made it a disaster.
Sorry, I am in and out today. I don't know if this counts as incompetent, but he was clearly misleading. He said they worked that court all the time and knew the judge very well, and badly over-promised what he could do for me. If I recall now, his exact word's were something to the effect of "it's too fast, there's nothing I can do about it". Of course it goes without saying that his big promises were all on the phone and I don't have a witness to them. So in addition to the points and suspension, I had to pay $230 plus and extra fee to lift the suspension.
Beyond the incompetence and laziness, is that when I called another law firm, who were $250 instead of $500, they also said they knew the judge really well. They also said he was really strict, and they told me exactly what I could reasonably expect them to get me as part of a plea. And the sentence I received is exactly what they promised.
I mean I know I gambled, figuring why not pay the extra $250 and go for the guys who say they can get me off much lighter? But clearly they were selling me a pack of lies, and couldn't even be bothered to make it look like they were trying, let alone shocked that that they couldn't deliver on their promise, although in fairness, as I said the guy who showed up knew absolutely nothing about my case, so I doubt he knew what I was promised either.
It was in NJ.
