We have received several traffic violation notices in the mail from an attorney for failing to stop at a red light in Miami Florida from over year ago.  We are Maryland residents and the driver's license number does not match ours so we have ignored it. Although we were in FL weeks prior to the issue date of the violation, the information did not seem to match up so we ignored it.

We have received another letter in the mail this week that has us worried. Our concern is that our credit is going to be hurt since they have our mailing address, name and DOB. We called the lawyers office today that was listed on the letter to see why we are receiving these notices, they suggested we fax them a copy of our driver's license to prove they made a mistake. Should we do that? Or would that result in them admitting to an error but the violation stands?

Response 1: You should. If the license number does not match, the case against you must be dismissed.

Or would that result in them admitting to an error but the violation stands?

Response 2: Violation cannot stand if the license number does not match.
