This problem can be caused by three things. The brake fluid level in the clutch master cylinder is to low and air is getting into the system, the seals in the master cylinder or clutch slave cylinder are not sealing off and leaking fluid, or the clutch pressure plate and or throw out bearing are going bad. If you pump the clutch pedal does it get firmer and let you shift before the pedal hits the floor?

No

Is the fluid level full in the clutch master cylinders res?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Is that the one on drivers side close to window under the hood? Not full, above the minimum just less than midway between max and min.

If you are looking at the fire wall from the front of the car, it will be the one on the far right hand side. If the fluid levle is in the middle then your problem will most likely be the master cylinder is going bad.

That is the one I'm looking at. Fluid level just below the middle.

Then the master cylinder is not creating pressure till you have already pushed the pedal in about half way instead of as soon as you start to push the pedal in. Replacing the clutch master cylinder should correct this problem.
