Wont turn over.. new battery and jumper cables hooked up..

Customer Question

Wont turn over.. new battery and jumper cables hooked up.. just a click.. the first time it sounded like the motor turned over but was grinding then just clunked now nothing.. 2001 195k miles. Sequoia
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: First time, but when starting last few weeks it has sounded rough. Oil is also yellow and smells like gas.
JA: Are you fixing your Sequoia yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing yet except making sure it was not electrical, battery has plenty of power and tried jumper cables also. Normally I am DYI but afraid that the motor went bad.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi im kevin has car started at all ? Where is click from in engine bay ?

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
No click at this point.. just nothing.
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

Ok can you turn engine over by crank pulley by hand

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
Not sure where to grab it to try that?
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

On the crank pulley there will be a bolt you just need to see if you can turn this with a wrench

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
Do you know what size socket I would need.. how hard should it be to turn the motor?
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

Not sure on size there are so many options should move with some force just want to make sure its not seized

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
Ok.. it turned over manually but didn't sound good. Tried to start and it moved the engine but the stopped and now I cannot turn with socket at all.
Customer: replied 9 days ago.
Doesn't make any noise or move now when I try to start again.
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

So you cannot now turn at all ?

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

It sounds likely that the engine is damaged internally without stripping down its hard to say why but it should turn by hand full rotations

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
What should I try next?
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

You need to take covers off timg belt to see if its still attached and tought

Customer: replied 9 days ago.
If ti is what next? If not what next?
Expert:  Kevin replied 9 days ago.

If belt has fallen off or is loose then its probrably written the car off because it would be an uneconomical repair .if its not then take plugs out and try and turn again
