Customer Question

Hi, electrical problem.
A few days ago cigarette lighter burnt out. No problem. Removed and will replace later.
Yesterday, started hilux in the morning, have no indicators, a/c, power windows, cig lighter, fan , wipers or radio.
I have checked fuses and power is at the fuses. Have checked in cab earth straps and seem ok. Am stuck and require vehicle going today :(
Engine still goes and drivable. Still have headlights and interior light.
Just checked, have no tail lights either...

That sounds like a back feed on that circuit but before we get into that check the fuse able links under the hood either in the fuse blocks or on the battery connection .

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I have checked fuses under the hood. They are all good
Expert:  Peter Bagley replied 4 months ago.

I.m not talking about fuses but the heavier ones called fuse able links? some are the large square ones and some are a heavier wire close or attached to the battery.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Yep, I know what your talking about.. it's all good.

Just a question, did all this problems occur after the cigar litter buggered up? Did you check the wiring to it to see if it didn't short out or melt any wiring behind it?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
All after cig lighter stuffed up. That's where I'm up to. I have dash apart.. wires look fine.. but that doesn't mean they are fine
Expert:  Peter Bagley replied 4 months ago.

you would think that the cigar fuse would blow first before any other problems would occur , I would look at back of that fuse block as well

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Hi... I found the issue.
The alternator is buggered. Not sure it's problem tho.
I will rip it off this morning
Expert:  Peter Bagley replied 4 months ago.

gOOD WORK IF IT'S SHORTED OUT IT MAY HAVE CAUSED SOME OTHER ISSUES SO HAVE A LOOK AT THE HIGH AMP ALT FUSEABLE LINK AS WELL.
