I just installed a previously running 93 1.8 corolla motor

Customer Question

I just installed a previously running 93 1.8 corolla motor into my 95 corolla it wont start due to no spark there were a few wiring plug differences and I can't find a wire coming from down under the harmonic balancer to plug 1 connected to I'm assuming it was a crank position sensor but not sure, I get power to distributor but no spark to plugs ?
JA: Does the vehicle stall at low speeds? Does it sputter?
Customer: Doesn't start
JA: Are you fixing your Corolla yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes just spraying starting fluid and no result then checking for spark to the plugs and timing because I used the 95 distributor in the 93 engine
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That's all I have as of now

Hello! My name is Gary.
Welcome to JustAnswer.
Can you not find the right engine for the car?

You have seen some differences now, that is why it won't start.

Best to get the correct engine for year/model.

the engine is the same its a 1.8 the same as what i took out, the differeces are minimal and i would expect the a toyota mechanic would know what i need to do to rectify the problem as i say i get power to the distributor but no spark to the spark plugs

ill figure it out myself , just though this might be faster but thanks anyway

It will be a wiring difference, unfortunately I can't give you the difference on here.

You need two circuit drawings of both models.
