The passenger light indicates whether the passenger side airbag is active. The airbag system (SRS) is designed to turn off the passenger airbag if it detects that there is no one sitting there, or if the person sitting there is too small for the airbag to work safely.

When someone is sitting in the passenger seat does it change to "on"?
