Customer Question

I have a06 prius, and one day I got hit in the back while driving. Then suddenly the airbag light came on, and stayed on, while I was driving. The passenger warinig light on the right hand side, telling me that it's off even though someone is seating on the passenger side. I check the yellow switches under the passenger and driverside, disconnecte them and sprayed them with electrical lubricant, but still no changed. I check to see if any code will come up, but notihing comes up on my scanner. What is the next step ?
JA: Is anything interfering with the seatbelt latch?
Customer: I don't think so .
JA: What year is your Prius?
Customer: 2006
JA: Are you fixing your Prius yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes, and I disconneected the srs switches under the passenger and driver side, and reconnected them but no changed
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

autel ( AL519), doesn't give me access to my SRS.

Good little tool but no access to ABS or Airbag .

You most likely have the common issue of a bad seat sensor ,this is why its not

switching on or off the passengers airbag.(Will trip airbag warning light ON).

see you have tried to clean the connection as this is also common failure point

if this did not work most likely the seat sensor .

Get the codes read with a airbag code reader to be sure .
