Doing timing belt on 2004 sequoia and cam pulley rotated

doing timing belt on 2004 sequoia and cam pulley rotated clockwise while is was putting on new belt. can i just rotate it back?
JA: How many miles are on the timing belt? Have you ever had to change it before?
Customer: this is the second belt
JA: Are you fixing your Sequoia yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: i rotated the crank to TDC and the timing pulley marks lined up. i took the belt off and the left timing pulley rotated clockwise.i rotated it back counter clockwise to line up again. will that be okay?
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
