The ABS pump on my Toyota Prius stopped working. I have

Customer Question

The ABS pump on my Toyota Prius stopped working.
JA: Have you checked the brake fluid? And have the brakes been squeaking?
Customer: I have checked the brakes, and they have not been squeaking.
JA: What year is your Prius?
Customer: 2003.
JA: Are you fixing your Prius yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am fixing it myself. I was driving and both the brake and ABS light came on and the car started making a high-pitched wailing sound. I took the car in and had the codes read. It said the pump was seized open. The brakes basically stopped working by the time I got home. Had to press them extremely hard to get the car to stop.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I am just trying to figure out the location of the ABS pump and hopefully get pointed in the direction of what the process for replacing it is.

Hi. The pump is common to go on the Prius. It is located behind the engine under the cowl trim panel. CLICK HERE for the removal instructions.
