Customer Question

Hey. I have a Toyota Tundra 2016. It he engine cut off while driving down the road. I had just prior run through some standing water on the side of the road. Is it possible to have "drowned" the engine from such a small amount of water at under 35 MPH
JA: How many miles are on the car? Is it an automatic or a manual transmission?
Customer: Automatic. 13,500 miles
JA: Are you fixing your Tundra yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have done nothing. Just parked it and got a ride to get a rental car
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Engine turns over, but does not crank. That's all

My honest opinion is to call your Toyota dealership. The reason why I say this is because you're still under warranty. I think you're even entitled to free towing. I wouldn't recommend doing anything to the vehicle to avoid voiding the warranty. The only thing I would do, you've already done which was to check the air filter. I hope I was helpful. Please, don't forget to rate me. Thank you so much. Don't hesitate to ask any other question.

Thank you. I called the dealership and they said I would have to get it towed to them and then they would determine if timid covered. And because it is a long holiday weekend, it will be at least four days. So I was hoping to find a simple solution. Thanks

This problem is a complicated problem to solve without being able to look or touch the vehicle. Unfortunately, there isn't a simple solution for this problem.

Although, I hope my answers were helpful. Best of luck. Thank you!

Hi,

Just touching base. Have you been to the dealership yet?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
there was no problem when they checked it. They ran"diagnostics". I'm assuming they just plugged in the chip reader. It cranked up for them and it has now run the last two days with no issue. Something obviously got wet somewhere in the system and being parked for three days over the long weekend it dried out.

Yes, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm convinced that's exactly what happened. I know it can be scary, specially, with a new vehicle. I'm happy everything turn out well for you sir. I hope I was helpful. Please, don't forget to rate me so the question can be closed. Thank you so much and best of luck.
