I have a 2008 Sequoia that will not turnover when starting.

Customer Question

I have a 2008 Sequoia that will not turnover when starting. It happens intermittently and the battery is fine. It appears to be a sensor but I am not sure which one. Any ideas?

have you checked power to the starter?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No I haven't. Would that cause this issue? The first time I had this was in December the second yesterday and the last time today. Do you think it is the cable?
Expert:  john replied 8 months ago.

Its liely the starter they are very common for failing especially when they age but in order to diagnose you would need to check power to the starter with a test light or a volt meter while the key is in the crank position. so since someone needs to be turning the key and someone else needs to be checking the starter for power it is a two person task

Done, there is power to the starter
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Could it be the neutral safety switch?
Expert:  john replied 8 months ago.

there are two wires on the starter that you would be testing power to the trigger and the starter did you test both?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I just tested one. Could it be the neutral safety switch?

if its getting power to the starter and its not cranking it means the starter is bad . can you check that other wire for me while someones cranking so we can see if we are getting power to the solenoid when cranking?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Checked both wires and they are getting power
Expert:  john replied 8 months ago.

replace the starter

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
There is no clicking noise. Why do you think it is the starter?
Expert:  john replied 8 months ago.

you state your getting power to the starter at the trigger wire so that would indicate its getting power ...hence the starter..they dont always click
