my 2005 toyota camary with four cylinder engine with vvti whines and shakesduring idle the shaking goes away when you acclerate but the whining remains . I have taken th serpentine belt off to eleminate all engine driven acessories but the noise still remains could the intake camshaft sproket/actuator be the problem.

The odds of it being the actual vvti are very slim. The chain also operates the oil pump. Can you gain access to the chain and check the condition of the chain?
