Customer Question

On a 1993 Camry 4 cyl. when the car is first warmed up and reaches highway speed, tap the cruise control stalk button on end, "cruise" light comes on on dash, press down on stalk and the cc engages. All runs fine. Then disengage for whatever reason. Cruise light stays on on dash. Try to re-engage, light blinks on and off, then stays off and cannot re-engage anything. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting

Are any other warning lights on the dash staying on? Check the brake fluid, be sure it's at the max mark, make sure the E brake is all the way off and check the brake lights for proper operation. If nothing turns up there we'll have to do a diagnostic check using a jumper wire in the check connector to check for trouble codes.

I assume the check engine light is not on. Under the hood is a diagnostic check connector, open the cover and locate the terminals Tc and E1, put a short jumper wire between these two, turn the key on, turn the cruise control switch on, the cruise control light should start flashing, if there is a trouble code the light will blink a pattern, for example a code 12 would be one blink and then two and so on, let me know how this goes
