Hello

if the exhaust is running very hot then its likely to be 1 of 3 things:

1) the exhaust catylst is collasped and blocking the pipe - remove the o2 sensors and try and peer inside to see if the cat brick looks uniform or if its uneven and collasped

2) there's a lack of fuel pressure so the engine is running lean and so very hot - measure fuel pressure on a running engine to confirm

3) the ignition advance is incorrectly set so its very retarded? - unless the van is pre 1998 then there's no distributor to get misaligned

I've rated these in order of likelhood so investigate and let me know
