Remote key fob on 2009 corolla not working. no locks, no

Customer Question

remote key fob on 2009 corolla not working. no locks, no start, the car is dead
JA: Have you checked the battery in the fob? Will the car open with another remote?
Customer: the batteries were replaced
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I've tried holding the key to the push button with the brake on. The steering wheel is locked and will not unlock using the instructions in the manual
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: The car is 6 years old with very low mileage, was working fine yesterday.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Toyota Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.
