I have a 2008 Prius. When I open the door there is an immediate beeping and when i try to start it the master warning light comes on and the engine will not start
JA: Have you checked the fuses? Have you checked the door switches?
Customer: No, where is the door switch? Which fuses should I check
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: I just want to at least diagnose the problem
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Toyota Mechanic should know about your Toyota?
Customer: It has roughly 95K miles on it
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Toyota Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

hello, thanks for posting

I'ts very likely that the 12 volt auxiliary battery in the trunk is discharged? Do you have another car to try and jump start with or do you have a voltmeter handy?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I can try to get a jump start. I don't have a voltmeter

Thanks for the reply, there is an access point under the hood for the battery, open the fuse box near the left headlight, there is a red cover with a plus sign on it, open it and attach the positive cable there and ground the other to the engine, any metal part is ok. If it starts replace the battery in the trunk, once they are discharged like this and over 4 years old it's best to just replace.
