Customer Question

2005 Toyota Sienna, replacing rear windshield wiper. I removed the cap and the bolt but the rubber boot seems to be stuck.

Did you remove the 3 bolts holding the motor to the back panel yet?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No. I have to do that just to get the wiper arm off?
Expert:  Skyvisions replied 1 year ago.

Just to clarify you're just replacing the arm and not the motor? From what I read it sounded like you were replacing the wiper motor. If you're just replacing the arm the rubber boot that is on the body does not have to come off just take the nut off and then work the arm back and forth or if you have a small puller put on a puller and pop the arm off. See the attached link.

Right, just the arm. I was afraid of ripping the rubber boot.

The rubber will not be affected.

It is stuck badly. I pull and pull but no movement off the bolt. I had previously sprayed PB blaster on there as well.

You will need to get a small 2 jaw puller to pop the arm off of the taper pivot shaft.

ugh. maybe O'reilly's has one I can borrow. thx.
Expert:  Skyvisions replied 1 year ago.

They usually do. Good luck.

O'Reillys puller was too big so I bought a smaller one but it keeps slipping off the bolt.

Try screwing the nut on the end of the shaft enough to give you a larger platform to work on for the puller and once it breaks loose then remove the nut from the shaft.
