What article are you referring to can you provide link for this article?

What are you trying to accomplish here, are you replacing timing belt?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not sure where I read it. But on a 95 Toyota Tacoma 3.4 dohc when I install the cams by the directions I read one side is lined up right and the other is 180 out.
Expert:  scionking replied 1 year ago.

So the cams have been removed, and now you are trying to reinstall them both?

You are trying to get the cams to mesh correctly.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
we replaced head gaskets, waterpump, timing belt, and a few other things

Just to clarify your talking about the double dots on the camshafts on the passenger side cylinder head?

These are only lined up for cam installation, they do not need to be lined up when putting timing belt on. Actually when you have timing belt on and lined up that side will show 1 dot to 1 dot, instead of the 2 dot to 2 dot.

If I didn't put the service bolt in the cams will it make it not crank up after reinstalling them?
Expert:  scionking replied 1 year ago.

Your talking about the service bolts that lock the gear teeth in the tension position?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do you have to do that
Expert:  scionking replied 1 year ago.

Yes, but this doesn't effect timing, I believe it only effects noise of the gears, you have to load them before installing, it reduces noise of the gears by keeping tension on them.
