just put a new battery in my 98 tacoma and now the powers is out and the shift is locked. wondering if there's a way to disable?

Hello, thanks for posting

Check the high amperage 120A alternator fuse in the fuse box under the hood, It is larger than the rest and has a clear cover on it, check the filament inside the cover, if it's blown there are usually a few of the smaller that may be out as well. If the 120A fuse is blown it can be replaced by opening the fuse box bottom cover and then removing some of the connectors so you can get to the small bolts that connect the fuse to the main cables from the battery and to the rest of the fuses.
