Customer Question

Hi David ,
On a 2rzfe I'm installing a new rebuilt head and noticed that the split gear (left looking in) on on the cam has a pin installed, do I need to remove this pin? Thank you

Hi there,
No, you do not remove the pin.
You should have fitted a small bolt into that cam gear to lock the scissor gears together.
They unwound themselves to the "limit pin" when you took the cams out.
You need to wind the gears up to where a second hole lines up and fit a 6mm bolt to hold them locked.
You remove the bolt once the cams are fitted.
