We own a 4-Runner Toyota 2004 model. We just remodeled our house and made 2 seperate car garages. The garage door is 8' wide. I think the architect messed up. I am afraid that the opening might be too small for the cars. We can't really change the doors of the design as we sunk a ton of money in it.

Hello I will help you with your question,

The 2004 4 Runner is 6 feet 1 inch wide (73 inches) and your opening is 8 feet or 96 inches wide so there is room to park it. A comfortable opening for a garage door is 9 feet but as long as you are careful (especially backing out so you don't catch a mirror) you will be fine. Many openings are 8 feet.

Does 73" include the width of the side mirrors? If not, how much is it with side mirrors?

Yes, that is the total width including the mirrors.
