Toyota Service : Hello. Welcome to Just Answer. Please allow me to assist you by discussing your request in detail. Thanks.
Toyota Service : Are there no other issues with the car? No excess oil consumption, major oil leaks, underbody rust?
Customer :

nope - nothing wrong except I need a stick to hold the hood up

Toyota Service : Me too! My hood struts on my 93 Camry are also shot. I have 230,000 miles on mine; I don't have any major issues, either. I just did my timing belt. I love this car. iI would recommend you invest the money on the repair.
Toyota Service : The 92,93,94 and 95 Camrys are great cars..
Customer :

I drove it about two miles after the check engine light went on. no temp light went on. engine didn't seize up. would you do a compression test before deciding?

Toyota Service : The check engine light looks after electronic sensors.
Toyota Service : If it does not smoke, or consume oil, your compression would be ok.
Toyota Service : If you want to pull the code, I can walk you through that.
Customer :

OK - that helps a lot. Excellent service.
