I have a 2007 tundra V8 30000 miles the check maintance light and the red triangle light are on. The digital read out reads maintance required. The Toyota dealer just seviced car and says I need two sensors. Lights and maintance warning still on. Shouldn't they have been able to at least reset maintance required readout.Bruce XXX@XXXXXX.XXX
Optional Information: Make: Toyota Model: Tundra Year: 2007 Already Tried: Serviced at Toyota dealer today. Did nothing and charged 120 dollars.
Hello and thank you for choosing just answer.
The maintenance required light is a reminder set in the vehicle for the owner to make it easier to remember when the vehicle is due for maintenance. I 100% agree with you about the dealership's failure to reset this light, They did all the other work and they should've started the services by resetting the light but unfortunately no one is perfect and dealerships do make mistakes like this one all the time.
What I can do to help though is to give you the procedure to reset the maintenance light so you won't have to go to the dealership again and waste yet more time, However make sure you give them a call and let them know that you were not satisfied that they didn't reset the light.
To reset the maintenance required light follow the following steps:
1-turn the key to the on position without starting the engine.
2-switch your trip information screen to TRIP A.
3-after setting the display to trip A turn the key off.
4-Press and HOLD the trip reset button(the same button used to switch between ODO,TRIP A and TRIP B.
5-While holding the trip reset button turn the key to the on position, you will notice a counter that appears on the trip display screen, it will go down until it's done then it will flash 00000 and go back to the trip information.
6- The Maintenance light has been reset and will come back on after 5000 miles.
After this verify that the light has been turned off by starting the vehicle and making sure that the maint required light is off and the red triangle is off and you're all set.

Does this eem right. I've not experience any noticeable trouble with the truck. Could they be wrong. Is there a way to check. I am concerned with their workmanship. Please advise back
Hello Bruce and thank you for your replay!
I am assuming that your check engine light was on, A\F sensors are a common part to fail in any vehicle, The reasons for the failure vary greatly and the main cause of failure is bad gasoline. You will notice change in the truck drives because of the vehicle design, In older vehicles when the A\F sensor fails it will start running rough and cause it to start smoking black and the gas mileage will go really down. However in newer vehicles the on board computer will substitute a saved value for this sensor when it detects a fault to prevent the vehicle from running rough and prevent damage to the catalytic converter and that's why you won't notice change in the way the truck drives.
T-SB-0133-08 , I suggest you don't repair this until you contact toyota's customer service, Your vehicle only have 30,000 miles and if you've had all your services done at a Toyota dealership and since this is a design defect they might consider you for a good will, what good will is when a company helps a good customer with a design defect when the vehicle is out of warranty, They usually will cover the cost of the part and you cover the labor which will save you money, Contact toyota's customer service no. at(NNN) NNN-NNNNand explain to them the problem and tell them that you have maintained your vehicle at their dealership and you really like your truck and you believe that this is a design defect that Toyota should help their good customers with and You'd be surprised how much good will Toyota does! They're a good company when it comes to that.
Concerning the A\F sensor it's common in every car not only Toyota and I would have it replaced without worrying about the dealership's credibility.
