Customer Question

Today I replaced the 2 worn front tires with new tires on my 2009 Toyota Prius. I was surprised that the service technicians placed the new tires at the back of the car, rather than the front.

Is this the correct procedure? Why were the new tires placed at the back axles, please?

Thank you,

John

Hi yes this is correct. The way it used to get done was to put the new ones on the front but know through testing procedures they have found that the new tyres should go on the rear of the vehicle as it carries more load on there and is safer driving with them on the rear instead of the front.
