AFTER REPLACING ALL THESE PARTS CODE P0016 IS BACK???
Country: United StatesMake: ToyotaModel: FJ CruiserYear: 2007 Already Tried: REPLACED ALL SENSORS AND VVT CONTROLLERS AND NOW THE CODES ARE BACK AGAIN????
Hello, and thank you for choosing Just Answer to help you with your questions! The repair manual says you need to check to see if the timing chain has jumped a tooth. If not that, then replace the ECM.HOWEVER, I have seen the tone ring on the camshafts in that motor break, and sometimes completely explode for no apparent reason. Your code is for bank 1. So remove the valve cover on the passenger side, and at the very front of the engine at the end of the camshaft is a ring that spins with the cam. This is the tone ring that the sensor reads from. Inspect this closely for any signs of breakage or cracking. If it looks good, then check the timing marks to make sure it hasn't jumped a tooth somehow
However, every time I've seen one of those tone rings break, it's always on the passenger side
