Hi, my daughter has a 2001 toyota echo which rattles when the transmission is in drive and the vehicle is at idle with the brakes applied. The rattling appears to be confined to the engine housing and increases in intensity while the vehicle sits in position. Upon acceleration the rattling stops - the vehicle shifts smoothly and fuel mileage has not changed at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All fluid levels are fine - belt's good - no obvious leaks

Thanks for using JA
The most common issues causing a rattle while the vehicle is in drive would be an engine or transmission faulty mount. Have those checked.
Next would be loose exhaust parts, like a shield or a clamp.
