How do you change spark plugs on a 2007 toyota rav 4 with a v 6?

disconnect the 4 coil wire connectors

mastertech29 :

remove the four bolt on coils

remove spark plugs

Customer: I have a v six not a four cylinder

  1. Remove the V-bank cover.

  2. Remove the intake air surge tank (See step 53 under REMOVAL ).

  3. Remove the bolt and ignition coil.



INSTALLATION



  1. Install the 6 ignition coils with the 6 bolts.

    Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)



  2. Connect the 6 ignition coil connectors.

  3. Install intake air surge tank assembly (See step 22 under INSTALLATION ).

  4. Install the V-bank cover.

REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY



  1. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body.

  2. Disconnect the vapor feed hose.

  3. Disconnect the throttle body connector and clamp.

  1. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose.

  2. Disconnect the union to check valve hose.

Remove the bolt and vacuum hose clamp.

Disconnect the connector.

  1. Using a 5 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the 4 bolts.

  2. Rem

    ove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and surge tank

Remove the gasket from the surge tank.

you then use a 16mm socket to take out the plugs

it takes about 2.7 hours

it's really not that bad of a job just time consuming

did you get the coils off the rear yet

Customer: I did the front three...then stopped because I could not figure out how to get atvthe back three.....so I put the three old plugs back in and put everything back together...I will tackle it to morrow...I kind of figured a bunch had to come off to acess the back 3

yea it's almost impossible without pulling the manifold
