Hi and Welcome to Just Answer! My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do my best to help.
flashing engine light is informing you for heavy misfire that will damage catalityc convertors
I'm not sure if you are typing, or if I should be asking you more questions
What you need to do is to have vehicle scanned with professionjal scan tool
this will reveal which cylinder is misfiring
So I should have it towed there?
you can first do your own inspection
okay, what's does that involve?
check for any fauled plugs, remove spark plugs and inspect
just a minute please
remove each coil and plug, ignition coils are common failure,
do you have booster cable handy?
any cable with clips on the end?
I am asking so testing will be easier
just few minutes please I will guid you to test coils
we should stop here. i am not in a location where I can perform these tests. At home I have cables but I'd have to get someone to help me and no one is available right now.
how far is home
about 5-7 miles
you can drive if car is drivable, it will not damge anything for this distance
okay, but I did smell a kinda smokey smell
well, not really smokey, but a burning type smell.
sounds like one cylinder not firing and raw fuel entering exaust system, with engine running you can pull out coil connectors one by one and notice which one makes no difference
then disconnect injector connector, and this will stop fuel going into cylinder
well, the trouble is, i'm in my church clothes, so fiddling with the engine right now isn't too wise. I think I'll wait until someone can pick me up and take me home to change clothes and grab so tools. Beside the cables, anything else I should bring?
Bring smal tool box, you will need to remove coils and sp plugs.
okay, how should I contact you when I get back? I'll happily pay you now if that would be best
when coils removed, instal spark plug at each coil one by one and graund coil traded part to engine ground,
then crank engine and look for spark, if no spark present at one of the coils, instal another coils at it's connector, if you have spark with that coil, the the one not producing spark is defective.
Got it, sounds sensible. Can you mail my transript to my email address so I can print and take with me?
you just need to log in to your aacount from home and it will be there
we cannot use emails
okay, thank you.
